Animating the Clock and Fan



animating the clock was fairly simple. i ask Richard to animate the clock ticking. so what he did was went in and animated every little movement and tried to keep the gap even. then he ask me if it was okay. so i went in and looked at the animation. and told him. no, there's a simpler way to do it. so what i did is that i had to do the maths. first all the clock handles was kind of bend the vertices isn't aligned properly. so i went in and do that then centered the pivot point as well. one thing that i notice that a lot of people don't do is use their side,top,front view cameras that is easily available on the top right corner of your perspective view window. but i use it a lot because it helps to keep things align to how it suppose to and make things more perfect. anyways the math.

  • so our animation setting is 25fps
  • our animation length is 1min 20 second = 80 seconds
  • 80sec x 25fps = 2000 frames
  • 25fps x 60 sec = 1500
  • 360/1500 = 24fps
  • 24fps x 2000 frames = 480 degree is the value of the rotation axis

by doing this the clock should rotate at a realistic speed of 25fps. that's how i animated the clock. and by doing so there isn't a lot of key frames that you need to worry about. it does the job. less effort. and neat =D


this is animated very much using the same principal of the animated clock. what i did is key frame the beginning and end. all i had to do is rotate the Z axis. and the greater the number it is the faster the fan spin. so what i did is experiment with the numbers until i got it to a speed that i liked.
